I am not satisfied with my command of textures, but I’m slowly getting there (hairwise, anyway; metal is another thing).
(The African kid is from the WiP, which is slowly inching towards completion; 2 pages mostly done, need cover image.)

In other news, I finally allowed my MacBook to upgrade to the Catalina OS. Big mistake; Garageband cannot use the mic, the GIMP can no longer read data off USB drives, and a program I need for work no longer functions because Apple has abandoned support for the relevant library. I am glad I did not gloat overmuch over those poor souls discomfited by that Windows upgrade a while back.
So, back to Linux next time I need a new computer… if Linux is still functional. They’ve forced out Linus Torvalds and may possibly collapse in a pile of rubble a year or three down the line. O tempora o mores.
(But griping aside these are problems it is good to have. My old C64 didn’t have these problems, but also had several orders of magnitude less memory, and took several minutes to load anything off tape.)

For a work in progress. Drawing waves using linework is a trickier proposition than watercolours/ink washes, so I looked at a video on watercolour technique for waves and tried to do it in monochrome.
